By, Harry Chambers Jr.

The Sixth Avenue Baptist Church-Bible Study Class was a roaring success. Thank God from whom all blessings flow. What a rewarding experience to share your spiritual gifts and spiritual issues with other Christians who are seeking to answer the question posed by the book written by Linda G. Chambers. The excitements of seeing how God can use you to produce a tangible product that can impact people’s lives and encourage them to find their place in ministry is truly awesome. Several years ago before writing the book and leading this class my wife was wrestling with the question of how she could use her gifts to improve the church and its mission, to win souls for Christ. Writing the book required her to research articles and books about spiritual gifts, temperaments, scripture references and being obedient to those spiritual gifts that God had placed on her heart. Then being willing to share what you have learned can be scary because you always feel as though you are inadequate or unworthy to share how good God has been to you in your spiritual walk. You wonder if anyone has had similar spiritual experiences and if writing a book is worth reading. The blessing is in knowing that fear is not of God and that he wants us to live life more abundantly. Can an accountant write a book about being accountable to God for your spiritual gifts and giving your gifts to the church? Once you get over the fear, the answer is yes. We are blessed when we become a blessing to others. That is what I have observed while helping my wife get over her fear of being rejected because wrote a book. It has reminded me that all of us can live life more abundantly if we listen to what God has called us to do.

There is a blessing in being obedient. Church volunteers are very important to the mission of the church when they are obedient to Gods call on their life. For example, my wife is an excellent accounting professional and accounting professor in the secular world. Those gifts were offered in obedience to God to our church through her leadership in helping to improve the annual church budgeting and review process and monthly church financial reporting.

The bible says the servant is the greatest in Gods kingdom. There is a need for more workers in the church who do not compete with each other but see Christ example as the ultimate servant of mankind. Your church family deserves your spiritual gifts to make the church relevant in the lives of your family, friends, community and the un-churched.

Linda’s involvement at our church has helped ministry leaders become more aware of why it is important for lay leaders of the church to focus their annual budgets towards winning souls for Christ and not having an exclusive social club gatherings throughout the year. As her husband, her book has reminded me that saving souls and encouraging each other in Christian ministry work should be the focus of every Christian. We sometimes after a long days work in the world want to give the church our worst, but the church deserves our best. I think her book is the best and the participants in the Bible study class would agree. The bible study class allows you to further the conversation with God. If you continue to read the word, God will show you those areas of church ministry where you can be a blessing to others and an effective witness to the saving grace and mercy of GOD. We are excited and encouraged by the bible study participants and there conversations of spiritual encouragement. We also know that others can teach this bible study course and we have designed a teachers guide to give that opportunity to other Christians who want to answer the questions of the book. Are you open to teaching the book? Have you allowed your gifts to be used in building Gods kingdom on earth through your involvement in ministry? God wants to bless you to be a blessing to others. If you ready to make a decision to use your spiritual gifts in ministry we can help. Email us a problmslv@aol.com or call us at 205-780-0141. My God continue to richly bless you and your family.

Looking for the latest and the best of the year when it comes down to inspiration? Well, look no further. We’ve composed a brief list containing the best thus far in gospel music. Don’t fret though, the year isn’t over yet. More entries are bound to make the cut. In the meantime, let us begin, shall we.

Marvin Sapp
Here I Am

The new album from the former Commissioned singer is breaking even more record than his best-selling Thirstyalbum. Due to the success of the R&B-crossover hit “Never Would Have Made It,” Marvin Sapp launches forward with an incredible set of inspiring anthems – like “The Best In Me” – and funky powerhouse numbers on Here I Am. Songs like the title cut, “Fresh Wind,” “Wait” and “Don’t Count Me Out” are sure to be radio sensations in months to come. It’s a far better album than Thirsty; tossing out the long worshippy cuts and going for what he does best – revival-like ad-libs on top of touching ballads and energetic contemporary numbers.

James Fortune & FIYA
Encore

With a set of gospel hit singles (including 2008′s “I Trust You”) already in his pocket, James Fortune and his group FIYA aim high on their latest work, Encore. While the rap meister, a la Kirk Franklin, talks his way through most of the cuts like a caffeine-fueled emcee, Fortune is blessed with a delicious ride of contemporary gospel done in the traditions of gospel greats like Israel Houghton and John P. Kee (“You Are Here,” “The Greatest”). Then there’s the brilliantly-mastered urban cuts (“Can’t Stop,” “Bounce Back”) – thick enough to work a hardcore nightclub. The ballads remains Fortune’s forte as he passionately renders songs like “Draw Me,” “I Need Your Glory” and the title cut.

Karen Clark-Sheard
All In One

The packaging may be a bit on the dull side and the music is a slight detour from what we normally expect from the Grammy-award winning Clark Sister, but All In One is a fun adventure nevertheless. Containing a healthy mix of urban contemporary grooves (“Crazy Praise,” “Good,” “He Knows”) and a few Sunday morning teasers (“Blessings,” “Prayed Up”), the project stands as a major improvement from the all-worship album Its Not Over. This time around, Clark-Sheard relies on the comforts of her family (Kierra Sheard, J Moss, Dorinda Clark-Cole, J. Drew Sheard) and her developing niche’ of songwriting to help make this project work.

PJ Morton
Walk Alone

Son of a renowned preacher, PJ Morton is a skilled pupil of the old-school. He’s picked up lessons from a versatile set of musical fields including soft rock, classic soul and, of course, gospel. On Walk Alone, he serenades his R&B fans with tunes like “Forever,” “Girlfriend” and the reggae-tinged duet with Tweet on “Love You More.” But he uncovers his gospel roots on the encore edition of “Let Go (Let God)” (featuring a special guest duet with his father, Bishop Paul S. Morton) and on the inspiring “Mountains and Molehills”. The soul singer, who recently made headlines for his stance on recording gospel and mainstream music on CNN, also pens an open letter aimed at his critics on “Son of a Preacherman.”

J Matthew Cobb is the editor-at-large of the Birmingham-based online publication PRAYZEHYMN Online.com. He is also a contributor writer and music critic for SoulTracks.com and UrbanhamFaith.

In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth

Note: What is the prayer of a troubled man? Our prayer today as we feel the trouble of the world is sad, sweet, filled with sorrow and Joy.
“One man stayed with his family as he was loyal to them. Thus, no woman or loose harlot could lure him away. Another man planted a garden. God sent the rain and the sunshine. He did make a harvest. Another man stayed with man to see all things. What happened to him?

Meanwhile John continued to grow. His on-going conversion continued to unfold. He saw the history of the Church, Martin Luther and the results of the Reformation. He also saw many covenants and doctrines among many banners that held fast to a multitude of Church houses. However, as he kept God first he saw God not with them as He allowed the non-conformist comfort in his solitude and in his sweet misery.”

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway. We also come with no material motive or gain or profit from rendering the Truth of God. Those called to great service are given the greatest prosperity that exists by God and not man.

Many come troubled and know not what to do. However, the righteous find comfort hope and help in the Lord in prayer. Glory to God. Beloved as we look to Jesus the Christ our Savior we pray in times of trouble and in joy and pain. We pray today as we did yesterday and tomorrow for God to help us cope with any problems and the things that we need. What are the prayers for the things we want? Do you want anything with the Lord? Will God provide the needs of the saints?

We may want physical healing however we need spiritual healing in an on-going fashion. Thus, we pray for God to continue as a leaning post, a resting post for the weary. We therefore will never grow tired of praising our Lord and Master. Somebody needs to shout Hallelujah.

We will now begin with the first verse found at Psalms 6. There are 10 verses here however we may need to include a Part II as we see where the Spirit will send us.

Psalms 6: 1: “O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.”
Our beloved brother David was in pain. What was the cause of his pain? What is the cause of your pain this morning, noonday, evening or night? What are your troubles? Will you call on the Lord? Meanwhile we see that this is one of the 7 Penitential Psalms. In these Psalms the writer realizes his situation is usually the result of sin. Have we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory? In an act of repentance David expresses his sorrow over his faults and expresses a fresh commitment to stay with God.

Who will you stay with in times of trouble? Many are never with the Lord in times of good or bad. Many souls that liveth place man in a foul and wicked position before our Lord. They will reap what they sow. We serve a jealous God.

“There was once a man who had a son who sent him on a journey to buy food for the family. However, when the son got to the breadbasket he spent his time with loose women. He then took in much strong drink and squandered all of the money his father in the flesh had given him. This man for all practical purposes did not represent his father and did things that his father had forbidden and warned him not to do. He also took counsel with other elders and disputed many things his father had taught him.

As we look to the benefits of a parallel and draw lines side by side we look to God as He sends Preachers to preach and teach His word. But, some fall for women, money and many other things. All things of material are held up in the world as good. They left God as they left His teachings and what He had provided for them in His word. God was/is upset, and jealous of the flesh influences of His preachers. However, as they left God they took up with another guy who was hot and was the intercessor to an eternal place of doom.”

At the 2nd Division of Psalms we find scripture that celebrates the coronation of God’s anointed. We also look to Christ as our eternal King. Look now with us to the 5th verse: “Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”
The victory of the saints is coming as God will protect us from our enemies. Those that attempt to Censor and impede the posting of the FreedomJournal and those that have stood in opposition to our work for the last 40 years your day will come. We come to praise the coronation of the Messiah and He has promised us mercy and relief in all times of trouble. We are also very glad about it.

At Psalms 38 there is hope when sorrow for sin is expressed. NO one, yes no preacher or religious leader can offer us healing and protection as we confess our sins. Almighty God is who we pray to in the name of Jesus at the altar of repentance. Now look with us at the first verse at Psalms 38: “O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.”
This verse is identical to our primary verse taken from Psalms 6: 1. Here we see that God often allows his faithful to be subjected and tested by the persecutions of their enemies. David did not nor do we ask God to relive us of all of the unpleasant situations we encounter. Meanwhile we pray as did David for modification and strength to cope with all circumstances we face as we make this sojourn in the name of Jesus. Somebody please shout Hallelujah.

Now back to our primary scripture taken from Psalms 6 and the 2nd verse.

Psalms 6: 2: “Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, Heal me; for my bones are vexed.” (Also see Psalms 22: 14 where the Psalmist relates his pain and suffering to that of Christ on the cross. This is a figurative expression but represents a human being fastly approaching death).
In the previous Psalm David prayed for divine help during the day. Now we see him pleading for help as he approached the night.

Psalms 6: 3-4: “My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?”
David being in the human posture asked the Lord how long will I have to go through this ordeal? How long did Jesus have to suffer? How long will we have to suffer? Is there always joy in the midst of any trouble for the righteous that stay in the Spirit? God always knows what is best and what we think is for our bad is for our good?

At Psalms 83 we see a passionate plea for God to destroy the enemies of Israel. Who do the people of God now call out for? Look now at verse 3: “They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.”
To be crafty means they consulted with other enemies of God’s people to plot against the Lord. God protects the hidden ones in His divine special care. Are we hidden?

Meanwhile at Psalms 90: 13 as an additional cross reference to verse Psalms 6: 3 we see another earnest plea for God’s mercy. “Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.”

Psalms 6: 4: “Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercies’ sake.”
The Lord will never forsake us. We have to leave Him. Thus the word return here does not mean that the Lord had forsaken David. David prayed for a return or a repeat of the blessings of God. We also want a repeat of God’s blessings. Glory to God.

We (FreedomJournal) have written volumes and have been talked about (rebuked and scorned) by many of the brethren. All will not make the transition at the same time. Many will thus be left to bear witness to what they have seen what they have read and what they have heard. Somebody shout Hallelujah.

PR Log (Press Release) – Apr 27, 2010 – Atlanta, GA – “Wear iT Wednesday™” is a grass roots movement which empowers Christian youth to show the joy of their faith as one community. Wear iT Wednesday™ is the idea of college senior, Chelsea Eubank. Chelsea’s vision is to register over 1,000,000 youth on www.wearitwednesday.com to gain their commitment to wear their favorite Christian shirt (FCA, Mission, Christian Band, church etc…) every Wednesday. This movement will provide a way for young people to join together across this great country to personally show their commitment to Christ. Since its launch on Wednesday, April 17, more than 250,000 students have registered their commitment on www.wearitwednesday.com. We are excited to announce that Devotional Diva Renee Johnson, will provide the daily devotions for “Wear it Wednesday™”. Renee is the Devotional Diva and author of “Faithbook of Jesus” a daily devotional for 20-somethings. As a 20-something herself her passion is to help people better understand their faith in God and connect with Him daily. She has worked for Outreach Events where she had the pleasure of working with national speakers and comedians such as Lee Strobel, Kirk Cameron, and Josh McDowell. With the knowledge she has learned from working with 300+ pastors and ministry leaders combined with her love for the Word, Renee brings passion and enthusiasm to the “Wear it Wednesday™” team. While volunteering for Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chelsea saw that young people were so excited about their faith. She came to understand that clothing is their personal media. What better way to show who they believe in than to wear their faith? Upon reflecting Chelsea saw that there has been no national movement that allows our Christian youth to stand up and be counted.

Wear iT Wednesday™ is a growing movement that will show the nation how young people are willing to take on the personal responsibility of demonstrating Christian values and commitment to Christ. The Wear iT Wednesday™ tag line states it best– “Wear iT, Live iT”.

Chelsea’s initial goal is to have 1,000,000 students commit to “wear their faith” each Wednesday by registering online at www.wearitwednesday.com. Chelsea and the Wear iT Wednesday team view this as a continual growing movement.

See the media contacts below to interview Chelsea Eubank or Renee Johnson. For more information regarding this movement, visit the website at www.wearitwednesday.com.
